McKinney National Airport has recently inaugurated a dedicated U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) facility, marking a significant advancement in the city’s international connectivity. This development is poised to bolster McKinney’s economic growth by attracting more international travelers and corporate aviation.
Over the past two years, the airport has experienced a surge in international arrivals, increasing by more than 40% from 127 in Fiscal Year 2023 to a projected 180 by the end of Fiscal Year 2025. The new CBP facility is designed to accommodate this growth, featuring private inspection spaces for secure and efficient passenger processing, dedicated CBP officer coordination to streamline operations, and secure entry infrastructure that reduces turnaround times for international flights.
Mayor Bill Cox emphasized the facility’s significance, stating, “This is more than a building; it’s a gateway to opportunity.” Airport Director Ken Carley added that the enhanced customs capability strengthens McKinney’s appeal to international business partners and corporate travelers.
